My mother Hanna (Anuta) nee Spinner was born on December 8, 1921, in Bucharest.

My father David (Meir) Littman was born June 12, 1914, in Iasi.

To understand the story of my coming into the world, I will begin with the story of my mother and father’s acquaintance. Her father passed away when she was six years old. Her mother was very ill and sent her to an orphanage. There she learned to read and write and at the age of 12 she learned sewing, at the age of 18, in exchange for continuing to live in the orphanage, she was sent to work in a sewing workshop. And the orphanage received her wages.

My father learned sewing when he was 10 at his father’s house. At the age of 20 he enlisted in the Romanian army and there sewed uniforms for senior officers. An officer of the rank of general took him to his estate in Bucharest, housed him in one of the servants’ rooms, and purchased all the equipment required for a sewing shop. Introduced it to a shop owner and a sewing workshop.

Five years later World War II began. The general was busy, so he sent my father to fetch cloth from the shop owner and return to him the clothes he had sewn. This is how my parents met.
